SETAF-AF hosts Commander’s Forum to gauge progress and set stage for success in Africa

The commanding general of U.S. Army Southern European Task Force, Africa welcomed Army leaders here for a weeklong discussion on progress and opportunities for the Army in support of U.S. Africa Command.

VICENZA, Italy – The commanding general of U.S. Army Southern European Task Force, Africa welcomed Army leaders here for a weeklong discussion on progress and opportunities for the Army in support of U.S. Africa Command.

Maj. Gen. Todd R. Wasmund. commander of SETAF-AF, assembled  leaders from across the Army to talk about how the Army is supporting U.S. Africa Command objectives.

Other commands present at the conference included U.S. Army Europe and Africa, 173rd Airborne Brigade, 414th Contracting Command, the 2nd Security Force Assistance Brigade, U.S. Army Garrison Italy and many others.

SETAF-AF is responsible for coordinating all U.S. Army activities in Africa in support of U.S. Africa Command and U.S. Army Europe and Africa. U.S Army activities include military readiness exercises across the continent, hundreds of security force assistance engagements, crisis response and enduring posture support. These activities strengthen partner networks in Africa, build partner capacity against regional and global security threats, and provide strategic access for U.S. forces in contingency operations.

Army Reserve judge advocate brings rule of law course to Africa
Few residents of Hagerstown, Maryland, realize their school board lawyer is also a superwoman of sorts. Monday through Friday, Capt. Brooke Gomulka serves as in-house counsel, but on weekends she dons a different cape as a U.S. Army Reserve judge advocate with the 360th Civil Affairs Brigade. Currently, she is on a nine-month deployment with the Civil Affairs Battalion, U.S. Army Southern European Task Force, Africa (SETAF-AF) in Vicenza, Italy.
