VICENZA, Italy – U.S. Army Garrison (USAG) Italy and U.S. Army Africa (USARAF) Acting Commanding General Brig. Gen. Eugene J. LeBoeuf participated in a ribbon cutting ceremony marking the completion of renovations to building 76 on Caserma Del Din May 11, 2018.

The renovations, which started in November 2016 and lasted 18 months, bring a 1.3 million dollar modernization upgrade to the building’s middle section.

“Today is an important milestone in the effort of a long-range plan, which is moving toward the consolidation of the USARAF command onto Del Din,” LeBoeuf said. “Hopefully today is the first of many ribbon cutting ceremonies we will be hosting in the coming years on Del Din, as buildings 4, 28, 93, and 94 come on line.”

The project transformed a former storage warehouse into a modern open storage, administrative office facility through the addition of a mezzanine, security system and HVAC system, as well as computer and audio visual systems. The completed project provides work spaces for 73 personnel from the 517th Geospatial Planning Cell, the 79th Theater Sustainment Command (Forward), and the command’s Air Force Staff Weather Office.

Mr. Fred Agamie, the deputy chief of staff engineer (DCSENG) for the project, opened the ceremony by welcoming attendees and LeBoeuf followed with brief remarks and by presenting certificates of appreciation to Mr. Skylar Marsden, the IT project management specialist for the DCSENG, Mr. Massimiliano Bozzolan, the directorate of public works (DPW) joint operations center program manager; and Mr. Anello Bizzarri, the DPW construction inspector.

“This construction project significantly increases USARAF’s and U.S. Africa Command’s headquarters capabilities in regards to geospatial and weather intelligence, and theater sustainment mission support functions,” LeBoeuf said.
